NJ couple loses two children after Jersey Shore boating trip with grandparents ends in tragedy: reports
Two young siblings, Mya, 9, and Sigmund “Siggy,” 7, were killed in a boating crash in Barnegat Bay at the Jersey Shore on Sunday night.
Police say their grandfather, Steven Schneider, 63, was driving the 30-foot boat when it struck a lit channel marker around 9 p.m. The kids were thrown into the water and later pronounced dead.
First responders tried to save them. No charges have been filed and the crash remains under investigation.
In obituaries, the siblings were remembered as “best friends” who loved swimming, the beach, and each other. “A sibling bond is a love that lasts forever,” their family wrote.
